Working for Business in the Outdoor Capital of the UK

Fort William Mountain Festival 2018

February sees the return of the successful annual Mountain Festival to Fort William. Past years have included some fantastic films and speakers and this year is shaping up to be a great all-round event. This year we are delighted to see The Nevis Centre hosting again.

The launch night will be held at the Pinemartin Cafe at Nevis Range on Wednesday 21st February and the event runs until the 25th February when the Banff Film Festival World Tour will be shown at the main hub in the Nevis Centre. The Nevis Centre will be hosting a great collective of films and talks throughout the event and more details can be found on the events programme HERE.

Below is a comment from Lochaber Chamber of Commerce:

Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, representing the Outdoor Capital of the UK , is proud to support the Fort William Mountain Festival which runs from the 21st to the 25th of February 2018 and marks the 16th year that it has been held in Fort William.

The Fort William Mountain Festival exists to create and promote opportunities for people to share and find inspiration in mountain experiences, ideas and visions to promote the understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places and mountain communities. Every February, festival audiences and participants are treated to a range of inspiring presentations on a wide range of outdoor pursuits, adrenaline-filled and thought-provoking outdoor films, skills workshops and masterclasses from top instructors and an inspiring arts programme.

It is an important event for all local businesses as it attracts over 2,000 people to the area over the five days and firmly places Lochaber, as The Oudoor capital of the UK.  It celebrates the mountains and the outdoor lifestyle that surrounds all of us daily, and encourages visitors to come back and enjoy the scenery and activities for themselves.

The well -known writer and broadcaster, Cameron McNeish who has recently been recognised for his contribution to mountain culture will receive the Scottish Award for Excellence in Mountain Culture at a special event at the festival.

With biking, climbing & running, there is something for everyone with a taste for the outdoors. This year’s festival is presented in association with Nevis Landscape Partnership, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Lochaber Chamber of Commerce and the Highland Council.
