‘An eye for the Highlands’

The prestigious photography group ‘The Society of Scottish Landscape Photographers’ is to host its annual exhibition of new work in Fort William’s Lime Tree Gallery, this April.

This is the first time the Society has held this award winning exhibition sponsored by the German Lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss in Fort William; it is a major coup for the gallery and a great opportunity for locals and tourists alike to see some of the best new Scottish Landscape work produced by the Society.

Davie Hudson, President of the Society said: ‘We are delighted to be able to show our work in the heart of the Highlands in Fort William. Most of the more dramatic aspects of Scottish Landscape are found in the Highlands and our members spend thousands of hours each year seeking out that special moment, that glimpse of light on a Lochan or shaft of light bursting through dramatic clouds – the Highlands, no matter what the weather, never fails to produce.’

David Wilson, owner of the Lime Tree said: ‘This exhibition is another great coup for the Gallery and the town. In the past we’ve taken photographic shows from the Royal Geographical Society and the Natural History Museum. This show is more home-grown and focuses on images that draw people to the Highlands. The Society of Scottish landscape Photographers is an impressive show of high quality photography, a body of work that is both interesting and entertaining.’

Vanessa Hafezi, Exhibition Coordinator at the Lime Tree Gallery, explained that there are over fifty images on display in the main gallery supported by publications and background information.

The exhibition opens on the 7th April until the 5th May is open daily from 10.00am to 10.00pm and admission is free.
