BSW TimberForestry & Timber Production
BSW Timber is the largest sawmilling business in Great Britain and the company’s foundations go back to 1848.
BSW sawmills are located throughout the UK, at Fort William, Boat of Garten, Petersmuir, Dalbeattie, Carlisle, Southampton and Newbridge-on-Wye in Wales and we have one sawmill in Riga, Latvia. Group Headquarters remain in the town of Earlston in Berwickshire, where the business originated.
BSW manufacture sustainably sourced products in its UK mills. We take our environmental and social responsibility extremely seriously and we are committed to developing our business towards ecological, social and economic sustainability.
The original Fort William sawmill was built in 1974 with BSW taking ownership in 1988. The new K2 sawmill was built on the site of the old paper mill with phased construction taking place between 2008 and 2017. The site produces 250,000m3 of sawn timber. This site is a major employer in the area, employing around 190 people and has a retail branch which supplies landscaping, construction timber, heatlogs and firewood to the local residents and businesses.
We continue to invest in our manufacturing facilities and technology and in market research, product and market development, bringing new opportunities to our customers using both UK and Latvian fibre. We are continually looking at ways to improve product availability and customer service.’
