North Highlands and Islands Climate Hub

The North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub is funded by the Scottish Government with the purpose of supporting community led climate action throughout the region. The Hub is one of the first of a network of community led Climate Action Hubs which are forming across Scotland to support communities make a just transition to net zero, create greater resilience in communities and support a climate ready Scotland.

They commenced work as a Climate Hub in September 2021 with Thurso Community Development Trust as the operators of the Hub before creating the North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub CIC in April 2022 which welcomes community groups throughout the region to become members and shape the direction of the Hub going forwards.

They operate across the region with their team of Development Officers ready to assist communities in their climate action journey whether this is developing new projects with a specific climate action focus or simply working with community groups to embed more climate friendly behaviours into their existing work. From community engagement, net zero policies to design, development and delivery of a project they can lend additional capacity, support and advise.
